Windows XP is undoubtedly the most reliable and impressive operating system ever made (especially coming from Microsoft), and only a fool would argue. There’s only one problem; it’s over a decade old! When originally released (in 2001), XP was scheduled to discontinue support in 10 years, but kindly received additional “extended support” from Microsoft until 2014. This was great for large enterprise businesses, to give them additional time to prepare to migrate to the newer version of the OS.
Unfortunately, not everyone understands this fully. While XP remains highly secure and a great platform to work with, once support is discontinued, there will be no more “fixes”. This includes security patches, updates, service packs, etc. What does that mean? The day after support ends, if a hacker finds an exploit to compromise the security of the XP system, it will NEVER be “fixed”. Microsoft will not step in and stop that from happening to any and every XP system that is susceptible. This happens with every operating system released, and it’s the main reason why people stop using outdated software.
The bigger problem: Newer hardware and software, interactive websites, downloadable content, other various computer mediums JUST WEREN’T MADE to be understood by Windows XP! While XP may be able to emulate an understanding, new releases aren’t made to (more…)
